Feb. 23, 2008- The Lindenwood track and field teams swept the HAAC Indoor Championships over the weekend. It was the seventh all-time HAAC title for the men’s indoor program, and the 11th crown for the women’s program over the last 12 years.

Lindenwood men’s team collected 248 points at the event, easily winning the title by 114 points. The Lady Lions earned 272 points and edged out MidAmerica Nazarene by 26 points.

The Lions men’s team won 11 individual events and two relays on the way to their title. Deji Adebayo and Evans Kiptoo both won a pair of titles. Adebayo was first in the 55m and long jump events, and Kiptoo had the fastest time in the mile and 3,000m.

Other winners were Jevon Claxton in the 400m, Anthony Saenz in the 600-yard, Navin Arunalasam in the 800m, Titus Tirop in the 1000m, Andrew Mapp in the 55m hurdles, Kevin Huggins in the high jump and Illiyan Chamov in the triple jump. The relay wins came in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.

The Lady Lions won 11 individual events and one relay. Marion Kandie and Zhulieta Mechkarska both led the team with three HAAC titles. Kandie captured the 1000m, mile run and 3,000m, while Mechkarska won the 400m, 600-yard run and triple jump.

Anna-Kay Campbell won a pair of crowns in the high jump and pentathlon. Other winners were Anabelle Delarue in the 800m, Lisa Hughes in the shot put and Mary Harvey in the 3,000m walk. The relay title came in the distance medley.

Lindenwood will next compete at the NAIA Indoor Championships on March 6-8 in Johnson City, Tenn.
