The Heart of America Athletic Conference believes that the concept of good sportsmanship is easier to recognize than define. The Conference also believes that no institution should ever gain an advantage by behavior that would be construed as intimidating or taunting of the players, coaches, or guests of our visiting teams. There is no doubt that good sportsmanship should not be a goal – rather an expectation of all HAAC schools.

The Sportsmanship Trophy for 2008 is awarded to Central Methodist University.

The HAAC Sportsmanship Initiative, with a purpose of recognizing good sportsmanship displayed by student-athletes, coaches, and athletic administrators, awards a year-end Sportsmanship Trophy to the institution as selected by a vote of the Board of Governors, as well as individual citations presented throughout the year to individuals.
